Stranger Than Fiction

Turns out there really is an Anglo-American Encyclopedia, 1917 edition.

However, the volume containing an entry for "Uqbar" is said to be missing from most libraries.

I compared your books to my Werner encyclopedia and they are the exact same ,I was wondering if you had any publishing info on your books

Sorry -- I can't offer much here. I don't own these books, and don't have copies on hand. But so far as I can tell, and based on a Wikipedia page so take it with a grain of salt, the Anglo-American Encyclopedia was published in 1902 (and for several years afterward), and simply stole parts of the Brittanica. Werner seems to have done the same thing in 1909.

It is quite possible that one publisher pulled the same sleazy trick under two names, or that two publishers pulled it one time each.
