Taking a Break

November is National Novel Writing Month, in which thousands of people worldwide attempt to write a 50,000-word novel, from start to finish.

Last year, Father Anonymous tried and -- ahem -- succeeded at this ridiculous endeavor.  As a matter of fact, his book clocked in at (double-ahem) 60,000 words and counting.  Were they good words?  Were they coherent words?  Were they words that could be read aloud in polite company?  All beside the point.

He's trying again this year, the poor slob.  Pray for him.

But writing a novel in a month, while continuing to hold down a job, raise a baby and glance lovingly at one's wife, is a demanding thing.  It calls for iron discipline, laser focus, and many other cliches.  Also, lots and lots of time.

So for the next thirty days, Magdalene's Egg will not be updated.  Except, if we just can't help ourselves, just after Election Day.  We'll see what the Electoral College looks like Wednesday morning and make the call.  But basically, no more Egg for November.

Those who just can't get enough of our own obsessions, we recommend a few indispensable sites and blogs:

Have fun.  See you in thirty.
