Sacrilege in Wichita

Nobody likes abortion.  Even the most passionate advocates of a woman's right to make her own decision on the matter don't like it.  They just like other things less.  And polls have consistently shown that, the closer to term an abortion is contemplated, the more people dislike it.  Many people who consider first-trimester procedures to be ethically acceptable believe those in the third trimester to be murderous.  And then other people don't.

But here's the thing:  Walking into a church on Sunday morning and blowing a guy's heart out of his chest is universally recognized to be murder.  It is also an especially vicious, pointedly sacrilegious, form of murder.  The killer was was seeking to desecrate a sacred place, by purposefully committing a terrible sin in the midst of a community gathered to celebrate forgiveness.

Most readers will already have prayed for the soul of Dr. George Tiller, and perhaps for the soul of his murderer as well.  Please remember in your prayers as well the pastors and people of Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.  Pray that in the face of this monstrous evil they do not lose faith, or hope, or love.

otherwise, very very good post.

I've been reading too much internet lately, and am almost completely disheartened, except for the bright spot of Andrew Sullivan, who has actually been publishing stories of women who have had late-term abortions.
