I feel sorry for both wives.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15178007.post-56798636166262947772011-03-29T03:17:02.263-04:002011-03-29T03:17:02.263-04:00That story, sadly, illustrates everything both goo...That story, sadly, illustrates everything both good and wretched about Church and his ministry, with a heavy emphasis on wretched.Father Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18170260624474428623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15178007.post-6548602526929464052011-03-29T01:57:48.434-04:002011-03-29T01:57:48.434-04:00I personally was baptized by Rev. An atheist myself, I have always derived amusement from hearing from my parents about my baptism. The couple my parents wanted to be my godparents were Orthodox Jews, and Rev. Church's church was about the only one in town willing to do a baptism for two rather un-religious parents and two Orthodox Jewish godparents. My parents were apparently shopping around for a church in NYC and were attracted to All-Souls because All-Souls were advertising a book discussion group for a Richard Dawkins book critical of theistic religion. The day I was baptized there were picketers outside the church calling for the Reverend's dismissal. My Jewish godparents asked my parents "What's up with you Christians?" To this day it's one of the funniest stories I've heard.bigassdickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02687290281612066962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15178007.post-73068820114772892802009-09-29T11:53:08.722-04:002009-09-29T11:53:08.722-04:00That last paragraph is true brilliance! But he counseled my wife through a downward spiral of alcoholism and arrested her fall with his loving words, and for that I, and our four children, will forever be grateful. And I owe him a debt of gratitude for showing me religion based on how to live a life rather than miracles.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15178007.post-75185309588540081552009-09-28T02:11:00.732-04:002009-09-28T02:11:00.732-04:00I vacillate too, but (defying physics) the pendulu...I vacillate too, but (defying physics) the pendulum swing through anger is longer and deeper than the brief trips through sadness.Father Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18170260624474428623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15178007.post-74440222262139258372009-09-27T18:15:19.881-04:002009-09-27T18:15:19.881-04:00Forrest Church.
